Meditation Bowl Workshop w/ Terra Sigillata & Smoke-Fired Finish
In addition to presenting Ballard’s stunning retrospective, Metamorphosis, TRAX Visual Art Center will also host an intimate, artist-led workshop
The sessions are built around two days of pinching, terra sig glazing, smoke firing, and a tour / planting collaboration with Moore Farms Botanical Gardens.
Registration includes instruction, materials, lunch, tour, and botanicals.
Coming from out-of-town? The TRAX staff recommends making reservations (not included in workshop cost) with The Inn at the Crossroads.
Meeting One — October 19, 9:30am–4pm
2-hour meditation bowl pinching instruction in the morning
Lunch break and walk through downtown Lake City garden areas
1-2 hour application of terra sigillata in the afternoon
Student works bisque-fired between workshop days
Meeting Two — October 26, 11am–4pm
2-hour "smoke" firing (in metal trash cans) using pine needles, newspaper, etc.
Lunch break and exhibition walk through
Students plant rooted cuttings of Alice's plants in their finished pieces or a seedling courtesy of our local collaborators, Moore Farms Botanical Gardens
