This piece is hand built with white earthenware and airbrushed with terra sigillata.  Only the seeds have been softly buffed to a shine.

The grandness of the Southern Magnolia Tree has become a symbol for place, the place being my current home, Greenville, South Carolina.  This evergreen provides seasonal inspiration from its leaves to its flowers to the pods, red seeds and petals.  It is truly magnificent in all its visual glory but it has a bloom that fills the hot and moist summer air with it's heavy fragrance....
